SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Packinghouse Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of operations within the citrus packinghouse facility, managing both fresh domestic and imported citrus commodities. This role ensures that grading, packing, and bagging processes are carried out efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with company policies and food safety standards. The Supervisor is a key contributor to coordinating product movement, monitoring equipment readiness, developing staff capabilities, and maintaining consistent quality and yield throughout the packing and shipping process. This position reports directly to the Packinghouse Manager and works closely with them to coordinate daily operational tasks and provide direction to crew members.


JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate the movement of product through production for grading, packing, and bagging.
  • Collaborate with the packinghouse management and sales teams to develop and maintain daily production schedules.
  • Oversee import and domestic bagging operations to meet production requirements.
  • Oversee morning startup tests and equipment checks to ensure accurate and efficient operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized packhouse at all times, ensuring full compliance with the company's food safety program, hygiene protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assist packinghouse maintenance staff to ensure all preventive maintenance (PM) work is completed on schedule, minimizing downtime.
  • Report all machine or equipment malfunctions promptly to maintenance staff and the Packinghouse Manager.
  • Assist in the management of domestic and import product lines staff, ensuring all team members are appropriately trained in policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement training procedures for operators in production processes to promote operational efficiency.
  • Supervise the Control Room to ensure fruit is efficiently processed.
  • Review employee timecards daily and approve weekly in ADP.
  • Evaluate quality issues during production and recommend solutions to upper management.
  • Monitor cannery eliminations and packed cartons throughout the day to maximize yield and maintain quality.
  • Assist in the accurate and timely completion of all food safety logs, PIQ reports, and other required documentation to ensure audit readiness.
  • Deliver daily packer count reports to HR for payroll processing.
  • Support the Packinghouse Manager in his absence and perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Partner with quality control, sales, logistics, and management teams to ensure customer requirements and company standards are consistently met.
Compensation: $55,000 to $75,000

Main Office Location: Vero Beach, FL.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in Agriculture, Food Science, Supply Chain, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in packinghouse, produce, or agricultural operations; citrus or fresh fruit experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of packinghouse equipment, processes, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, FSMA) and audit compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, supervise, and motivate staff.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in workforce/timekeeping systems (ADP or similar) and basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.


WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in a fast-paced packinghouse environment with seasonal demands tied to citrus harvest and export schedules. Extended hours, including nights and weekends, may be required during peak season.
