SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of shipping, packed fruit inventory management, and cooler personnel management. Responsible for outbound fruit movement, ensuring all orders are shipped within customer specs and in a timely manner. Responsible for receiving Imported fruit. Provide technical and administrative oversight and expertise to logistics operations while building a high-performing team.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in citrus industry and warehousing/packing operations, with experience managing perishable and products across multiple varieties. Candidate must be a team player with a strong work ethic and proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment. This role will directly supervise 3 or more shipping staff members.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for outbound fruit movement, ensuring all orders are shipped within customer specifications and on a timely manner
- Ensure cooler operations function efficiently; reporting any issues to maintenance department
- Coach, mentor, develop, and train team; evaluate and track employee performance
- Handle administrative responsibilities including inventory reporting, PIQ documentation, labor management, and budgets
- Monitor and maintain proper temperature and humidity levels in cooling facilities, including digital recorder functionality and connectivity
- Report daily inventory levels, exceptions, and outages; identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Maintain Food Safety documentation for the shipping department and cooler operations
- Develop and distribute aged inventory reports; conduct routine floor counts and update the BC365 system as needed
- Manage inventory using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedures to ensure freshness and accuracy
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient product movement and exceptional service for internal and external customers
- Identify trends and issues; troubleshoot and implement effective solutions
- Coordinate inventory movement and storage between internal and external facilities
- Manage and oversee incoming imported fruit, track inventory, coordinate inspections, and maintain accurate records
- Maintain continuous communication with the packinghouse and sales departments
- Oversee manifest administrative functions and ensure accurate reporting to Sales, USDA, and the IR League
- Utilize company systems and software (e.g., BC365, Microsoft Office) to enhance efficiency and operational oversight
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2 years experience in distribution leadership required – perishable and/or citrus preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain & Logistics, or related work highly desired
- High level functionality in a team environment where honest communication, a positive attitude, engagement, and personal accountability is expected
- Detail oriented, organized, and committed to quality
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

WORK HOURS & ENVIRONMENT
2nd Shift (3:00 pm) - 50+ hours work week and required to work additional hours during peak times or as needed. Weekends and nights are required as needed.
